　　扑克—超时空的战争,既无硝烟、又不见刀光剑影。然而,它却演义着人间大戏。54张看似平等的牌面,却阴错阳差地令每个玩者一牌到手,就已分成高低上下。但是,一手好牌未必能成大器,而一副看似平淡无奇的牌面,却有可能改换门庭。这不单需要运气,更需要智慧；胆大心细,运筹帷幄,智勇拼搏才有可能成为强者。扑克牌也由此成为人们的最爱、成为“世界语”的魔幻大戏。

　　的确如此,我于1991年在苏联所经历的一切,足以证明这一切：前苏派的魔力,曾经影响着中国的方方面面,我就是以朝圣的心态来到苏联这块“圣地”膜拜。然而,看似表面的一幅“好牌”,却在玩牌人的不断换手中,扑簌迷离起来。这期间,我所创作的油画“谜”是我对现实中苏联的不解；而“密码·1991”则是我对苏联不解中的种种疑问；那么“奥·1991”则是我对无法解释的苏联现状的感叹!也就是由此,我开始创作出以扑克为题材的“金童玉女”、“蝶恋花之恋”等系列画作。我要用我的画作记录我对前苏联的不解之谜；也通过我的作品,与人们共同探讨“一幅好牌”出现多种结局的道理；同时,更给那些表面牌面不佳的“弱者”提升信心：“扑克虽以牌运定出身,却难以运气定结果。最后的强者是逆流而上的勇士,是聪慧务实的“忍者”。

　　POKER AND LIFE

　　The game of Poker - a metaphysical warfare without the smoke of gunfire or the flashing of blades. Yet, it enacts the big drama of life and humanity.

　　When 54 seemingly equal cards are randomly distributed, as each player gets their hand, they are split into winners and losers. But a hand of good cards is not a sure recipe for success and a set of mundane cards can still turn the tables. To do so requires not only luck, but more importantly, intellect; only by being bold and observant, with a strategy in mind, equipped with courage and a fighting spirit, can one become the victor. Thus, the game of Poker became the people's favourite and a "global language" of fantastic human drama.

　　Precisely so, all that I encountered in the Soviet Union during 1991 proved this. The magical allure of the former Soviet Union once permeated all aspects of Chinese society and it was with the notion of a holy pilgrimage that I travelled to the Soviet Union to "worship." However, what appeared to be a set of good cards, as they constantly changed hands among the different players, became increasingly mystifying. During this time, the creation of my oil painting, "Mystified", represented my confusion over the real Soviet Union and "Password.1991" was a reflection of my numerous doubts arising from that confusion. "Profound.1991"would then be my lament about the unexplainable existing state of affairs of the Soviet Union! And due to this, I started creating a series of oil paintings based on the theme of Poker such as "The Perfect Pair (Golden Boy and Jade Maiden)", "Romance of Butterfly Passion" etc.

　　I wish to use my artworks to document the unanswered riddles I had towards the former Soviet Union; and through my works, explore together with everyone, the principle that "one set of good cards" can still lead to many different outcomes; at the same time, I wish to give courage to the "weaker players," who have not been dealt a good hand, and raise their confidence levels; although Poker can affect win/lose conditions with its initial set of cards, it cannot influence the power that luck or chance has over the outcome. The final victory goes to those courageous enough to swim against the flow, who are clever, pragmatic and patient "Ninjas."
